Islamabad: Federal Medical College Student Forcibly Disappeared

Islamabad, Pakistan — June 20, 2025

Shayan Mengal, a 25-year-old student at Federal Medical College in Islamabad, was reportedly abducted by state authorities on June 18, 2025, near the Islamabad Toll Plaza. Since his detention, his whereabouts remain unknown.

Shayan hails from Ahmed Qaziabad in the Nushki, Balochistan and is the son of prominent tribal figure Haji Amir Hamza Mengal.

According to sources, Shayan was pursuing medical studies in Islamabad. His family stated that during the arrest, no legal warrant was presented, nor was any explanation provided by the personnel involved.

The family has since approached multiple police stations and relevant institutions, but no agency has confirmed his arrest or provided information about his location.

The family has appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan, the Prime Minister, and the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan to take urgent action for Shayan Mengal’s safe recovery.
