Kech: Sit-In Protest Continues on CPEC Road Demanding Recovery of Forcibly Disappeared Policeman Ghulam Jan

Turbat, Kech: A sit-in protest demanding the safe recovery of Ghulam Jan, a resident of Aumri Kahan Shapuk in Kech district and a serving police officer, continues on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) road for the fourth consecutive day.

According to family members, Ghulam Jan was forcibly disappeared on May 26 by personnel believed to be affiliated with Pakistani intelligence agencies. In response, his relatives and local residents blocked the CPEC route and set up a protest camp demanding his immediate release.

A large number of people, including family members of other missing persons, have joined the protest, expressing solidarity and calling for justice.

Protesters stated that they had earlier met with local administration officials, who acknowledged that Ghulam Jan was innocent and had been detained merely on the basis of suspicion. The officials reportedly assured the family that they had appealed to the security forces to either release him or present him before a court of law if any charges exist.

Despite the ongoing peaceful protest and repeated appeals, no progress has been made by the authorities, and the family says their calls continue to go unanswered.

It is worth noting that this is not the first protest staged by the family. Previous demonstrations had also been held demanding his recovery, but to no avail.
