On the occasion of Eid al-Adha, protests and rallies were held in various areas of Balochistan including Quetta, Dalbandin, Chaghi, Kharan, and Kech against enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the illegal arrests of Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) leaders.
In Quetta, a protest organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) saw participation from families of the disappeared, women, children, elderly, and a large number of the general public. Protesters demanded the recovery of missing persons and an end to state repression.
Speakers at the protest said Eid is meant to be a day of joy, yet Baloch families are on the streets demanding the return of their loved ones. They alleged that the human rights situation in Balochistan has become critical, and enforced disappearances have become a daily occurrence.
Similarly, under the leadership of Baloch Yakjehti Committee Rakhshan Region (Chaghi Zone), protest rallies and awareness campaigns were held in Dalbandin, Nokundi, Yakmach, Aminabad, and other areas of Chaghi. In Dalbandin, a rally was held demanding the recovery of Ghulam Hazrat Baloch and Abdullah Baloch, who have been missing since 2018. The rally started from Arab Mosque and concluded at Dalbandin Press Club.
Pamphlets were distributed during the rallies urging the Baloch people to raise their voices against state oppression. The pamphlets also questioned why political prisoners, if accused of any crime, are not presented before a court of law.
In Kharan, hundreds of people also staged a protest on Eid day, chanting slogans against enforced disappearances and the arrest of BYC leaders.
In a statement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee titled their appeal “The Joys of Eid and the Grief of the Baloch,” calling on the nation to unite against state repression and to speak up for their rights.
In Kech, including Turbat and Tump, protest rallies were also held against enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings, with large public participation.
