Kalat/Zehri, Balochistan – The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for two separate incidents in Balochistan, involving the seizure of arms from a police checkpost in Kalat and the targeted killing of a death squad member in Zehri.
In a statement issued by BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the group stated that on the night of May 20, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, BLF fighters surrounded a police checkpost located on City Shopping Road in Kalat. According to the statement, the fighters held the police personnel hostage, seized all government-issued weapons and equipment at the post, and then released the officers unharmed after interrogation. The BLF clarified that none of the officers were found to be involved in activities against the Baloch independence movement, hence they were let go.
Separately, the BLF also claimed responsibility for the killing of Khalid Lashari, allegedly a member of a state-backed death squad. The incident took place on the night of May 19, 2025, at 8:40 PM in Norgama, Zehri. According to the BLF, Lashari was targeted based on intelligence that linked him to Shafiq Mengal’s death squad—an entity accused of aiding the Pakistani military in enforced disappearances and violence against Baloch youth.
Major Gwahram Baloch stated that Lashari’s killing was a result of a strategic decision by the organization to bring collaborators to justice. However, the BLF also extended an offer to other death squad members, stating that if any operative repents, cuts ties with the Pakistani military, and provides credible assurances of their withdrawal from anti-Baloch activities, they will be forgiven and allowed to return to normal life. Otherwise, they will remain targets.
