Quetta – May 14: The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for recent attacks targeting Pakistani security forces and state-sponsored events in Quetta and Mastung. The group issued a statement through its spokesperson, Jeeyand Baloch, stating that its fighters (Sarmachars) carried out coordinated operations against what it termed the “occupying Pakistani army and its so-called victory celebrations.”
According to the BLA statement, a grenade attack was carried out today on a rally organized under the patronage of Pakistani forces on Munir Mengal Road in Quetta. The rally, led by puppet Member of Provincial Assembly (MPA) Ali Madad Jatak, was part of the state’s “Victory Celebration.” The BLA claims the attack targeted armed members of a pro-military death squad leading the rally. One member was reportedly killed and twelve others injured.
The spokesperson added that the puppet Balochistan government attempted to deceive the world by staging celebrations under heavy military protection, sealing large parts of Quetta with containers out of fear. “However,” the statement read, “today it has become evident to the world that the Baloch freedom movement has grown stronger with public support, and the occupying army no longer feels safe anywhere in Balochistan.”
In a separate attack, BLA fighters allegedly targeted a Pakistani military checkpoint at CCM Cross in Mastung last night. The BLA reports that four soldiers were injured in the grenade attack. The spokesperson said that the checkpoint, accusing forces there of routinely humiliating Baloch civilians, including women and the elderly, under the guise of security checks.
Jeeyand Baloch concluded the statement by asserting full responsibility for the attacks and warning that operations against Pakistani forces and their collaborators will continue.
