
Security forces in Balochistan’s Kech district have reportedly abducted five individuals in a series of overnight raids, according to family members and human rights organizations.
Late last night, personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) raided two homes in Kalatuk and forcibly disappeared Kamran Imam, the younger brother of well-known publisher and journalist Jameel Imam, along with another individual, Imtiaz Khayal. Family members claim that CTD forces broke into the homes around 2 AM, vandalized property, and physically assaulted women and elders before taking the men to an undisclosed location.
In a separate incident on May 6, Mohammad Shafi Baloch, son of Lehdad, was abducted from Tajjaban, Kech. On the same day, another resident, Daulat Baloch, son of Badal Baloch, was also forcibly disappeared from the same area.
On May 7, forces raided a home in Kohad, Tump tehsil, and abducted Riaz Ahmed, son of Ibrahim Baloch. It is noteworthy that Riaz had previously been a victim of enforced disappearance and was released after some time, only to be abducted again.
The Human Rights Department of Baloch National Movement (BNM), Paank, confirmed these incidents and condemned the abductions in strong terms. Paank has called on international human rights organizations to urgently intervene and take practical steps to halt the grave violations taking place in Balochistan.
