Over 45 Mutilated Bodies at Civil Hospital Quetta: BNM’s Human Rights Division ‘PAANK’ Expresses Deep Concern

Quetta, Balochistan: The Human Rights Department of the Baloch National Movement (BNM), known as PAANK, has expressed grave concern over harrowing reports emerging from Civil Hospital Quetta. According to PAANK’s verified sources, more than 45 mutilated and tortured bodies have been brought to the hospital’s morgue in recent weeks. In the latest development, five additional bodies were reportedly transferred to the facility, pushing the morgue beyond its capacity and creating a serious public health hazard.

The bodies, many unclaimed and stacked atop one another, are reportedly in a state of severe disfigurement, indicating possible extreme torture. PAANK emphasized that this is not just a health emergency but a profound human tragedy that reflects ongoing patterns of violence in Balochistan.

According to PAANK, over the past month, more than two dozen individuals have allegedly been killed in staged encounters by the Pakistan Army. While the identities of around a dozen bodies have been confirmed and those individuals laid to rest by their families, the remaining corpses remain unidentified—stored without names, dignity, or proper procedures.

The presence of mutilated bodies suggests systematic torture, extrajudicial killings, and enforced disappearances, clear violations of international human rights laws. PAANK urged that urgent attention be given to this crisis.

In its official statement, PAANK has demanded that both national and international human rights organizations take immediate action. Their demands include:

  • Independent forensic investigations of all recovered bodies,
  • Public disclosure of any identified individuals,
  • Return of bodies to their families for proper burial,
  • Prosecution of those responsible, and
  • On-ground access for international observers to assess the situation firsthand.

PAANK reiterated that the people of Balochistan deserve justice, truth, and dignity. Continued silence and inaction will only deepen the wounds of a nation already burdened by institutional violence and relentless oppression.
