In the city of Mangochar, located in Balochistan’s Qalat district, armed men reportedly took control of several key areas on Sunday. According to sources, the city remained under the control of Baloch insurgents for several hours, during which intense clashes occurred with Pakistani security forces.
The armed group maintained a presence along Mangochar’s main road and several strategic locations. At a checkpoint in Khazina, they attacked a police van and freed ten prisoners, detaining four police officers along with their weapons.
The attackers reportedly seized and set fire to several government buildings, including the NADRA office, local courts, and a bank. Multiple official vehicles and weapons were also confiscated. Local sources confirmed the sound of intermittent gunfire and explosions, especially near the main military camp in the area.
Videos and photos circulating on social media show armed men patrolling in the city holding Baloch flags, inspecting vehicles, and interacting with local residents.
Due to the severity of the situation, the main Quetta-Karachi highway was closed to traffic. So far, there has been no official statement or confirmation of casualties, though unverified reports suggest losses were inflicted on the security forces.
Meanwhile, an unidentified group reportedly blew up a bridge in Qalat district. However, no group has claimed responsibility for the attack or for the events in Mangochar so far.
