Dr. Sabiha Baloch, a central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has delivered a powerful video message to the Baloch nation, warning that silence in the face of the state’s brutality can lead only to death and destruction for the Baloch people.
She stated that the cruelty and barbarism of this oppressive state are clearly visible to everyone. “We are witnessing with our own eyes how the state, without reason or distinction, imprisons our leaders. This colonial power has become so drunk on its own might that gender, age, or profession mean nothing to it. If there is one thing it considers before killing or abducting someone, it is the Baloch identity. That identity alone is enough to become a target.”
Dr. Baloch noted that while the Baloch have been enduring atrocities for years, recent months have revealed the state’s most brutal face. “The state opened fire on our peaceful protesters, used tear gas and water cannons. Since the day our powerful voices, our leaders were put behind bars, the state has been on a rampage across Balochistan, emboldened by the belief that no one will speak out. And unknowingly, we too are beginning to adopt this dangerous silence, which is nothing short of a death sentence.”
She emphasized that in the past, whenever someone was abducted or killed extrajudicially, their families would immediately protest. “But now, the state is exploiting our silence—every day, someone is forcibly disappeared, mutilated bodies are found, and we remain quiet. Why? Have we forgotten the martyrdom of Balach Mola Bakhsh? His death sparked a movement. His family silenced their own grief to become a voice for all of us. Today, more Balachs are being killed, but we stay silent. By doing so, are we not betraying a lot of martyrs we claim to honor?”
Dr. Baloch reiterated that the Baloch Yakjehti Committee is not merely a party or limited to its leadership. “BYC represents the entire Baloch nation—those who are burying their dead, witnessing the destruction of their homes. Every Baloch who sees and feels this oppression shares the same responsibility as BYC.”
“In these dark times, where death looms from every corner and survival depends on resistance, how can we justify silence and indifference? Are we fooling ourselves by thinking silence will save us? The oppressor has never differentiated between individuals within a subjugated nation. So why do we cling to this false hope?”
