In Balochistan’s Duki district, two of the individuals killed in a recent alleged fake encounter by Pakistani forces have been identified as previously forcibly disappeared persons.
The Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) claimed to have killed five people in an armed clash, linking them to militant organizations. However, among the deceased was Ejaz Baloch, son of Khuda Bakhsh and a resident of Mangchar, who was forcibly disappeared after being detained by Pakistani forces in Mangchar, Kalat, on April 12, 2025. His identity was confirmed by family members today, who recognized his body from photographs. The family had earlier informed the media on April 16 that Ejaz and his companion, Zaid son of Abid Khan from Saryab, Quetta, were both detained on October 12, 2025, and had been missing since.
Another individual identified among the dead is Mohammad Deen Mari, who was abducted by Pakistani forces four months ago from Harnai. His killing in this staged encounter has further intensified suspicions of extrajudicial executions being disguised as security operations.
Local sources have raised concerns that the other individuals killed in the so-called encounter may also be among the forcibly disappeared, although their identities have not yet been confirmed.
These developments have sparked renewed outrage over the use of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan under the pretext of counterterrorism.
