Quetta, Balochistan: The hunger strike camp led by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) has marked its 5,798th day, continuing its relentless demand for the recovery of forcibly disappeared individuals across Balochistan.
Under the leadership of VBMP Vice Chairman Mama Qadeer Baloch, the camp remains a powerful symbol of resistance and resilience. On this significant day, a delegation of political and social activists from Shaal, including Noor Muhammad Baloch, Faiz Muhammad Baloch, Aziz Baloch and several women visited the camp to express their unwavering support for the families of the missing.
Speaking at the occasion, Mama Qadeer highlighted the devastating impact of enforced disappearances on Baloch society. “Life has lost its normal rhythm. The environment is filled with suffocating silence, shadows of grief loom large, and the spirit of joy has disappeared”.
According to VBMP, new reports of abductions are received on a daily basis. On Monday, the families of Naseer Ahmed, son of Qaiser Khan Satakzai, and Ikram, son of Noor Khan Satakzai, reported that both men were forcibly disappeared on April 13, 2025, from the Lais Dagari area of Shaal. VBMP condemned the abductions, calling them extrajudicial and demanding the immediate release of the victims.
Mama Qadeer stressed that such oppressive measures cannot silence a society permanently. “The state might intensify its violence, but it cannot fulfill its objectives through force. Suppressing fundamental human and constitutional rights is a serious violation of state responsibilities. No government is above the law, and it must protect the lives and dignity of all its citizens”.
He further warned that the entrenched system of lawlessness enforced by state institutions in Balochistan is exacerbating the crisis rather than resolving it.
The hunger strike camp continues to serve as a persistent reminder of the plight of thousands of Baloch families searching for answers, justice, and the safe return of their loved ones
