Nadia Baloch, sister of Dr. Mahrang Baloch, has confirmed that a government delegation led by the Deputy Commissioner of Quetta met with Dr. Mahrang today inside Hudha Jail. During the meeting, the delegation offered her release and assured her that charges filed under the Public Order Maintenance Law (3 MPO) would be withdrawn under certain conditions.
The conditions proposed by the Deputy Commissioner were as follows:
- Dr. Mahrang Baloch must provide a written guarantee that neither she nor her movement, the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) would block roads or disrupt highways during protests.
- The BYC must commit to refraining from staging sit-ins or political demonstrations in major cities or on central highways.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch firmly rejected these conditions. The Deputy Commissioner clarified that her release would only be possible if she agreed to the terms, while the release of other detained BYC members would be considered at a later stage.
According to Nadia Baloch, Dr. Mahrang made it explicitly clear to the government delegation that she would not accept any form of release unless all detained BYC members were released alongside her.
As a result of her refusal, the negotiations ended without any progress.
