Prisons, Chains, and Guns Cannot Break Us Victory Will Be Ours. Dr. Mahrang Baloch’s Letter from Jail

Dr. Mahrang Baloch, a central leader of the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC), has written a letter from Huda Jail in Quetta, addressing her fellow activists. In the letter, she urges them to remain steadfast, organized and committed to their peaceful struggle.

“My Conscious, Active and Brave Companions!”

“I know that the struggle for justice and rights is difficult and demanding. To fight for our rights, we must walk on thorns, not flowers. I am proud that my comrades have embraced hardships with resilience and continue to stand firm with immense bravery.”

Describing her prison conditions, she writes, “In this dark world of jail, where there is no distinction between day and night and no breeze from the outside world reaches us, I was filled with hope when I heard that our comrades did not remain silent even for a moment after our arrest. Despite tough conditions, they have continued to organize the people’s resistance movement across Balochistan. The darkness of this cell now feels illuminated, and I can smell the fresh air of my motherland, Balochistan. My head is held high with pride that I belong to a people who know how to sacrifice but never bow down!”

“My Countrymen!”

“No power can stop us from achieving our rights and justice, nor can it weaken our resolve. We must continue our peaceful struggle at all costs because our survival depends on it silence would mean collective death. Many tactics are being used to provoke us and sabotage our peaceful struggle, but we must remain firm and continue, as it is not just our right but our duty.”

Dr. Mahrang Baloch further stressed the importance of standing with the families of the forcibly disappeared. “I plead with all of you do not leave these families alone under any circumstances. You must become their strength. Respond to their calls, stand by them, and raise your voices for their struggle. Do not let them suffer at the mercy of outsiders.”

“My Resilient Companions!”

“No one understands the true meaning of perseverance better than you. Despite extreme hardships, you continue not only to sustain but also to strengthen this people’s movement. Your sacrifices have given this struggle even more power. We must now not only continue but also organize and reinforce our movement further. The success of this movement depends on our political awareness, determination and sincerity. I have full faith in you that, through your wisdom, patience and dedication, you will take this struggle to victory.”

“My Friends!”

“In the end, I urge you to hold onto patience at all costs. Our true strength lies in our courage and endurance. We must keep our spirits as high as the mountains of Chiltan. We must not let despair take root among us. Instead of acting in anger or frustration, we must make decisions with awareness and wisdom. We should not seek advice from those who wish to weaken and discourage us, and we must stay away from hypocrites and those who spread division.”

she wrote, “Our real strength is our collective thinking and struggle. Our power lies in the courage of our nation, our positive approach, and our unwavering determination. We must preserve this strength at all costs. These prisons, these chains, these batons, and these guns cannot break us.”

“It is my firm belief, Victory will be ours!”
