Shutter-Down Strike Continues in Turbat, Kalat and Kharan, Sit-in at Shaheed Fida Chowk

The Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has called for a shutter-down strike in Turbat, Kalat and Kharan for the second consecutive day in protest against the illegal arrest of Dr. Mahrang Baloch and other activists, enforced disappearances and the crackdown and massacre of unarmed protesters. Meanwhile, a sit-in continues at Shaheed Fida Chowk in Turbat.

Markets and businesses remained closed in Turbat on Sunday following BYC’s call to protest against the arrest of central BYC leaders in Quetta and the violence against peaceful protesters.

Last night, BYC leaders held an emergency press conference at the protest site in Turbat, announcing today’s shutter-down strike in response to the Quetta incidents. A large number of women, children, political activists and civilians are participating in the ongoing sit-in at Shaheed Fida Chowk.

Similarly, a complete shutter-down strike continues in Kalat for the second day, with all shops and businesses closed. According to local sources, all mobile networks in Kalat and surrounding areas have been shut down for the past 24 hours.

In Kharan, businesses remain completely shut for the second day as a protest against the use of force on BYC protesters and the abduction-like arrest of Dr. Mahrang Baloch.
