The spokesperson for the Baloch Yakjehti Committee (BYC) has stated that Pakistani security forces’ indiscriminate firing has resulted in the martyrdom of three protesters and the injury of seven others. The bodies have been brought to Munir Ahmed Road, where a sit-in is currently being held in protest. BYC has called on the people of Balochistan to take to the streets against this brutality.
According to BYC, Pakistani security forces opened indiscriminate fire on peaceful demonstrators in Quetta to sabotage the BYC’s peaceful sit-in, leading to three deaths and severe injuries to seven others.
The statement further highlights that mass arrests, baton charges on women and children, heavy shelling and an ongoing communication blackout continue. Additionally, a search operation in Sariab is targeting more protesters for arrest.
BYC has urged the people to gather at Munir Ahmed Road Quetta and has made a broader appeal to the people of Balochistan to come out onto the streets in protest against this violence.
