Shali Baloch, the Joint Secretary of Baloch National Movement (BNM) Germany, participated as the party’s representative in a demonstration held at Opernplatz, Hanover, Germany, to mark the “10th Anniversary of the Kurds’ Victory Against ISIS in Kobani” and expressed solidarity with the Kurdish struggle.Addressing the Kurdish demonstrators, she stated that the Baloch and Kurds face similar challenges. Both nations have been subjected to state-backed atrocities, oppression, and subjugation for decades.
Shali highlighted that women play a pivotal role in the revolutionary progress of any nation. She emphasized the fortunate presence of brave, politically conscious, and independent women among both the Kurds and the Baloch.
Referring to reports by credible human rights organizations, she noted that Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International have documented cases of enforced disappearances of Baloch women, who are targeted to punish male family members involved in the freedom struggle. These disappearances violate international laws, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (ICCPR).
Women activists and journalists advocating for Baloch rights often face threats, harassment, and, in some cases, exile, as seen in the case of Shaheed Banuk Karima, who was exiled in Canada.
Shali Baloch stated that the significance of Baloch women’s struggle symbolizes their courage and commitment to justice, despite the grave challenges they face. Still, they continue to play their role as preservers of Baloch culture and as voices of resistance.
