Karachi police picked up “Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) chairman Asad Iqbal Butt in a raid on his residence on Thursday in a bit to stop his participation in the 28th July Baloch National Gathering happening in Gwadar.
Karachi Police detained The HRCP Chairman and brought him at Gulberg Police Station, where he was asked as whether he was going to attend the Baloch Gathering, HRCP member Dr. Tauseef and other human rights activists reached the police staiand finally Mr. Butt was released in late evening.
HRCP officially released Condemned the detention of Chairman Asad Iqbal butt and demanded immediate and unconditional release of its chairman and siad “arbitrary detained by the police in Karachi.
Meanwhile Baloch Yakjehti Committee Organizer Dr. Mahrang Baloch condemned the illegal detention of HRCP Chairman and claimed that several activists had been picked up by law enforcement agencies from different parts of Karachi.
Dr. Mahrang Baloch added “the Sindh Police unlawfully detained the Chairperson of an independent human rights organization in a city like Karachi, one can only imagine the kind of oppression and tyranny the state military as involved in Balochistan, where there is neither media presence nor Internet.
Paank, human rights department working under BNM, also shown it’s concerned over detention of Mr. Butt. Paank condemned this action and demanded immediate release of Mr. Butt.
