BARKHAN, BALOCHSITAN: The bodies of 10 men were recovered from the Sarati area of Barkhan district in Balochistan and shifted to the Basic Health Unit (BHU) in Rara Shum.
All 10 have been identified through national identity cards found on the bodies. They belonged to different areas of Kohlu district.
The deceased have been identified as:
- Painda Khan, son of Tabu Khan
- Hassan, son of Umar Khan
- Sher Muhammad, son of Bani Bakhsh
- Iqbal, son of Nawab Khan
- Mazar Khan, son of Mehrdad Khan
- Din Muhammad, son of Dar Muhammad
- Gohar, son of Din Muhammad
- Wazir Khan, son of Nawara Khan
- Damar Bakhsh, son of Khuda Bakhsh
- Syed Khan, son of Amir
Unconfirmed reports suggest the bodies could be those of people who had been forcibly disappeared while in custody in Pakistan. No further information was available on the matter so far, and there was no official confirmation of the cause or circumstances of the deaths.
Note: Families and rights activists have linked a number of bodies recovered in Balochistan in recent cases to enforced disappearances. Relatives have long alleged that their loved ones were taken by security forces, including personnel of the Frontier Corps (FC) and the Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD). Some say they witnessed the detentions or recorded video of uniformed personnel taking the men away.
Human rights organizations and civil society groups continue to call for transparency and accountability.
In some cases, people reported missing were later found dead in what officials described as armed encounters. Families and rights groups have disputed these accounts, alleging that some of the encounters were staged.
