
KARACHI: Prominent Baloch nationalist Dr. Hakim Lehri died in Karachi this evening after a prolonged illness.
Dr. Lehri was a leading name in Balochistan’s nationalist politics. For several decades, he voiced his position on the Baloch freedom struggle, national rights, political autonomy and Balochistan’s political issues.
He was associated with Baloch political leaders and activists for a long time, and was both an eyewitness to and a participant in key events from different periods of Balochistan’s political history.
Dr. Lehri was counted among the close political associates of Baloch nationalist leader Sardar Ataullah Mengal. He was also involved in the periods when nationalist politics emerged as a significant political force in Balochistan.
