My Father’s Life is at Risk, Says Daughter After Court Rejects Petition for Disappeared Wahid Qambar Baloch

Shaari Baloch

QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: The daughter of disappeared Ustad Wahid Qambar Baloch has warned that her father’s life is in serious danger after a court dismissed the habeas corpus petition filed on his behalf on technical grounds, deepening fears over his safety and whereabouts.

Shaari Baloch, daughter of Ustad Wahid Qambar Baloch, expressed grave concern, saying the petition was rejected over minor technicalities that she argued should never take precedence over the core purpose of habeas corpus protecting individuals from unlawful and unacknowledged detention.

Every state department and respondent named in the petition denied holding Wahid Qambar Baloch in their custody. His daughter, however, remains firmly convinced that her father is being held unlawfully by Pakistani security forces.

“It is deeply concerning and unethical that instead of acknowledging his custody, the authorities have denied any involvement before the court,” Shaari Baloch said in her statement.

She warned that as long as the state continues to deny her father’s detention, his life remains at serious risk. Without accountability, she said, anything could happen to him.

Shaari Baloch said the dismissal strikes at the heart of the most fundamental human rights dignity, liberty, freedom and the right to a fair trial. For a family that has spent months searching for answers, Tuesday’s ruling has made an already devastating situation significantly worse.

“I am extremely worried about my father’s health and safety,” she said, her statement reflecting the anguish of a daughter caught between a silent state and an unresponsive court.

Shaari Baloch urged the public, civil society and international human rights organisations, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, to raise their voices against grave injustice.

“Silence in such cases only enables further violations of fundamental rights,” she said.

She demanded her father’s immediate and unconditional release and called on human rights bodies to take urgent action. She said the pattern of denial by state institutions, combined with the court’s dismissal on technical grounds, points to a deeply troubling disregard for legal accountability in Balochistan.

Ustad Wahid Kambar Baloch is a Baloch senior politician whose disappearance has been raised by his family and civil society groups as part of a broader pattern of enforced disappearances in Balochistan. His case is among hundreds that human rights organizations have documented in Balochisrtan over recent years.

No official statement has been issued by Pakistani authorities regarding the dismissal or the current whereabouts of Wahid Kambar Baloch.
