QUETTA, BALOCHISTAN: Pakistani forces have subjected Babul Malik Baloch, Senior Vice Chairman of the Baloch Students Organisation (BSO) Pajar, to enforced disappearance after detaining him from the Polytechnic College hostel in Quetta, the organisation confirmed in an official statement.
BSO Pajar’s central spokesperson condemned the disappearance in strong terms, describing the detention of a peaceful student leader from a college hostel as not only reprehensible but a grave violation of fundamental human rights. The spokesperson warned that such actions are creating an atmosphere of fear within educational institutions and appear to be a deliberate attempt to disrupt the educational environment in Balochistan.
The organisation described Babul Malik Baloch as a peaceful political activist who had dedicated himself to advocating for the educational and democratic rights of students. The spokesperson stated that if any charges exist against him, he should be produced before a court and processed through proper legal channels in accordance with the Constitution of Pakistan, rather than being disappeared without due process.
BSO Pajar further clarified its position as a democratic and political student organisation ideologically affiliated with the National Party, emphasising its belief in parliamentary supremacy, the rule of law and a transparent judicial system. The organisation stated that the enforced disappearance of young people outside constitutional bounds is fuelling unrest and instability in Balochistan and called on state institutions to immediately cease extra-constitutional actions and release Babul Malik Baloch without delay.
The central spokesperson appealed to human rights organisations, civil society, political parties and media outlets to take notice of the incident and play their role in highlighting the issue to prevent such occurrences in the future.
No official response from the relevant authorities or security agencies was available at the time of publication.
