QUETTA: Families of three men have alleged that their relatives were detained by security forces and later killed in what they described as extrajudicial, during a press conference held at a protest camp outside the Quetta Press Club.
The press conference was held at a camp organized by the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, where families demanded justice and the immediatley handover of the bodies.
According to the families, the three men Safeer Sumalani, Amanullah Sumalani, and Irfan Muhammad Hassni were taken into custody during a security operation on April 16 from the Ladi Dasht area of Kardgap in Mastung. They said that the men were detained, their mobile phones were seized, and they were subjected to torture.
Local residents, reported hearing gunfire in the area nearly an hour after the arrests.
The families further stated that the bodies were later shifted to a civil hospital, where they have remained for the past six days. They said that despite repeated requests, authorities have not handed over the bodies, raising concerns that they may begin to decompose.
During the press conference, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch and Secretary General Hooran Baloch were also present.
Speaking on the occasion, Hooran Baloch said that the men were forcibly disappeared and later killed in extrajudicial killing. She further claimed that authorities were delaying the handover of the bodies despite their deteriorating condition.
Nasrullah Baloch said the organisation had contacted relevant authorities, who assured them of a response, but no progress has been made so far. He stressed that under legal and human rights principles, the bodies should be handed over to the families without delay.
He warned that if the bodies are not returned, the families would be compelled to stage peaceful protest calling it their fundamental right.
