QUETTA: A woman in Balochistan has appealed to provincial authorities for protection, claiming her life is in danger due to alleged threats from her former husband.
Speaking at a press conference at the Quetta Press Club, Hina Zulfiqar Ali Lashari said she married Saeed Ahmed Jamali, a resident of Dera Murad Jamali, about 10 years ago. She explained that she later sought separation, accusing him of involvement in unlawful activities and inappropriate conduct.
During the press conference, Ms Lashari became visibly emotional and broke into tears while describing her situation and fears for her safety.
She stated that after their separation, her former husband allegedly began pressuring her and her family, using influence and legal channels against them while attempting to damage her reputation.
She also raised concerns about the safety of her nine-year-old daughter, alleging that her former husband has been trying to take custody through force and intimidation.
“I cannot hand over my daughter to him. I have approached the police, but no effective action has been taken,” she said.
Fearing for her safety and that of her family, Ms Lashari urged the Balochistan chief minister, inspector general of police, and other senior officials to intervene immediately.
She called on authorities to take notice of the situation and warned that if any harm comes to her or her family, responsibility would lie with her former husband.
She further cautioned that failure to provide protection and justice could push her to take extreme steps in protest.
