
DERA BUGTI: At least 16 individuals, including a woman, have reportedly been subjected to enforced disappearance during an ongoing crackdown in Dera Bugti, Balochistan, according to local sources.
Reports indicate that multiple cases of enforced disappearances have emerged from Sui and its surrounding areas, where Pakistani security forces and the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) are said to have detained several individuals whose whereabouts remain unknown.
According to sources, three individuals Nabi Bakhsh, son of Mahwat Bugti, Nabi Bakhsh alias Layoun, son of Bana Bugti and Usama alias Nado, son of Nek Muhammad Bugti were recently taken into custody in Sui and subsequently went missing. It is further reported that, over the past three days, a total of eight individuals, including five young men from the same tribal sub-clan, have been targeted.
In a separate incident, Frontier Corps personnel detained Gul Meer, son of Band Ali Bugti, from the Pat Feeder area of Sui and moved him to an undisclosed location. Additionally, reports state that Kareem, son of Rahim Bakhsh Bugti, was detained from Muhammad Colony on April 7, while Siddique, son of Nazar Ali Bugti, was taken into custody on April 9, both reportedly by CTD personnel.
Furthermore, a 65-year-old woman, identified as the wife of Shahil Mammadazi Bugti, was reportedly detained from Pir Koh and has since been missing.
Sources also claim that nine more individuals were detained during CTD operations in Dera Bugti town and shifted to unknown locations. They have been identified as Arbaz, son of Akram Khan Bugti; Qasim Ali, son of Limo Khan Bugti, Jabbar Khan, son of Hayat Bugti, Mateen, son of Hayat Bugti, Sajjad, son of Bilal Bugti, Ameen, son of Noor Din Bugti, Rehzan, son of Dad Muhammad Bugti, Din Muhammad, son of Rahim Bakhsh Bugti and Dost Ali, son of Malook Bugti.
Reports suggest that a large-scale crackdown is ongoing in the district. Local sources have linked the operation to ongoing oil and gas projects in the area, as well as a possible military operation.
