
QUETTA: Reports have emerged from various parts of Balochistan regarding enforced disappearances and subsequent releases of individuals from the custody of security forces.
In the Panjgur district’s Paroom area, four residents Mohsin son of Muslim, Yahya son of Muhammad Yaseen, Abdul Ahad son of Mulla Nazar and tractor driver Kareem son of Abdul Rashid have been forcibly disappeared recently. The first three were taken into custody on the morning of March 16, 2026, at Jerik Crossing Point, Paroom, Panjgur by Pakistani forces. Kareem, who has previously been subjected to enforced disappearance, was taken on April 2, 2026, near Jiwani, Turbat.
On the other hand, nine individuals have been released after being detained by Pakistani forces. Faheem Sumalani, a resident of Jailani Road, Quetta, was forcibly disappeared on March 1, 2026, and released on March 21 from Airport Road, Quetta. Hayat Bibi, originally from Nokjo Mashkay, Awaran and residing in Gazgi, Khuzdar, was detained on February 20, 2026, and subsequently released in Khuzdar.
Nizam son of Hamid from Gwadar, missing since December 8, 2025, was recovered on March 20, 2026. Yasir Ahmed son of Gul Muhammad and Naveed Ahmed son of Abdul Rashid, both from Khuzdar and missing since mid-2023 and April 2023 respectively, were released in Quetta on March 18, 2026.
Additionally, four individuals forcibly disappeared from Surab on March 28, 2026 Wahid Baloch, Akram Baloch, Sattar Baloch and Abdul Ghaffar Baloch were released on March 31, 2026, on Main RCD Road, Surab.
Local sources indicate that enforced disappearances remain a persistent issue in Balochistan, prompting families of the missing to raise protest appeals. Human rights activists have expressed deep concern over these cases, calling for an immediate end to enforced disappearances and the prompt return of all missing persons.
