QUETTA: The Baloch Women Forum has announced the launch of a week-long awareness campaign on the occasion of International Women’s Day, aiming to highlight the struggles, suffering, resilience, and political and social role of Baloch women.
In a statement, the forum said that the history of Balochistan is deeply connected with resistance, identity, and the struggle for survival. For decades, people in the region have faced political marginalization, economic injustice, enforced disappearances and military operations. These conditions, the organization said, have created deep pain and insecurity within Baloch society, with women often carrying the heaviest burden.
The forum noted that while women’s rights and empowerment are widely discussed around the world, Baloch women continue to face enforced disappearances of family members, violence, political pressure, and collective punishment. Many mothers, sisters and daughters, it said, have spent years seeking the return of their loved ones, with their lives marked by waiting, protests, and the search for justice.
Despite these challenges, the organization stated that Baloch women have not remained silent. According to the forum, they have taken to the streets, organized protest camps and raised their voices on international platforms to demand justice, human dignity and fundamental rights. Their courage and perseverance, the statement added, have become a powerful symbol of resistance against oppression.
The Baloch Women Forum also appealed to different sections of society including students, teachers, journalists, intellectuals, human rights activists, and concerned citizens to support the campaign and express solidarity with Baloch women. The organization emphasized that silence strengthens injustice, while solidarity can help build hope and bring change.
The forum urged people that on International Women’s Day, the focus should not remain limited to ceremonies and slogans, but should also amplify the voices of Baloch women who continue their struggle for justice, freedom, and human dignity.
