QUETTA: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a large-scale coordinated military operation carried out in the Karkh area of Khuzdar on March 4, 2026. The claim was made in a statement issued by the group’s spokesperson Gwahram Baloch.
According to the statement, the operation began at around 11:30 AM when a well-organized unit of BLF fighters encircled the city of Karkh from all four sides, imposing a complete blockade on all entry and exit routes.
In the first phase of the operation, BLF fighters attacked and seized a police checkpoint at Moola Cross located on the Khuzdar–Ratto Dero route, which is part of the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). According to the group, the personnel at the checkpoint were taken into custody and weapons and other equipment were confiscated. The statement said that BLF fighters also began snap-checking at Moola and Karkh Cross. The police checkpoint was later set on fire.
In the second phase of the operation, the group claimed that its fighters advanced into the center of Karkh city and gained control over several major government and administrative offices within a short period of time. These offices reportedly included the local police station, the office of the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA), a bank, and the district commissioner’s office. According to the BLF statement, records and state symbols present in the offices were burned and weapons and other equipment were seized.
The group also claimed that during the period when its fighters had control of the city, they addressed a public gathering in which they spoke about the objectives of the movement and criticized the state’s policies in Balochistan. The statement further said that attacks on major cities and temporary takeovers of administrative centers are part of the group’s strategy aimed at weakening the state’s authority, economic system and military infrastructure.
During the blockade, the BLF stated that its fighters detained four individuals, including a police Sub-Inspector identified as Anwar Ali, a resident of Baram in Sindh. According to the statement, a pistol was recovered from the officer during a search. The group further claimed that when one of the detained personnel attempted to escape, he was fired upon and injured before being re-arrested. The detained personnel were later warned and released, while the injured officer was transferred to a hospital for medical treatment.
The statement also said that two vehicles transporting marble were targeted and destroyed during the operation, as part of the exploitation of local resources. However, the drivers were reportedly warned and released.
According to the BLF, at around 1:00 PM Pakistani security forces began firing mortar shells from a distance and attempted to advance with reinforcements. The group said its fighters responded by taking defensive positions and launching a counter-attack.
The BLF further claimed that at around 2:00 PM clashes occurred near Moola Cross, during which three Pakistani army personnel were killed and several others wounded. It also claimed that in another incident at a location identified as Bhalonk, two military vehicles were severely damaged, forcing the soldiers to abandon their positions.
The group said that by 6:00 PM, after remaining in control of Karkh city and surrounding areas for several hours and completing its objectives, its fighters ended the blockade and withdrew to their bases.
In the statement, BLF spokesperson Gwahram Baloch said the operation was part of the group’s ongoing campaign and claimed it demonstrated the capabilities of its fighters.
