QUETTA: The human rights wing of Baloch National Movement (BNM), PAANK, has strongly condemned the killing of Balochi-language singer Talib Nazeer, who was shot dead at his home in the Minaz area of Buleda in Kech on the night of March 1, 2026.
According to PAANK, armed operatives described by local residents as state-backed death squads carried out the attack, killing the singer inside his residence. The organization said the incident has raised serious concerns among local communities regarding the safety of civilians and cultural figures in the region.
PAANK stated that Talib Nazeer was not involved in any armed activity. He worked as a shopkeeper and was known for his contributions as a Balochi-language singer who used music to promote and preserve Balochi culture and identity.
The organization described the killing as a serious violation of fundamental human rights, including the right to life, freedom of expression, and cultural participation.
In its statement, PAANK also expressed concern over what it described as a growing pattern of violence against civilians and artists in Balochistan. The group said that such incidents contribute to an environment of fear and undermine the rule of law.
The human rights organization called for attention to the situation and emphasized the importance of accountability and the protection of civilians in accordance with international human rights standards.
