HUB: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed to have arrested a suspected member of the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) during an operation in the Lyari area of Karachi.
According to CTD officials, the arrested individual has been identified as Ismatullah. Authorities claimed that explosive material, including a suicide jacket, was recovered from his possession. Officials further stated that the suspect was involved in subversive activities and that further investigation is underway.
However, local political and human rights organizations have rejected the CTD’s claims, asserting that Ismatullah had been forcibly disappeared eight months ago from Hub Chowki. According to these groups, he was detained in public on June 24 last year near Barishna Hotel on Hub’s main highway and had remained missing since then.
The organizations said that he is now being produced before the public as a fresh arrest. They further claimed that similar accusations have previously been made against the CTD in both Balochistan and Karachi alleging that individuals already in custody are later presented as members of armed groups or shown as arrested or killed in alleged encounters.
