ISPR Says 92 Militants Killed in Balochistan Operations

Pakistan’s military has claimed that its forces killed 92 militants during a series of coordinated security operations across Balochistan, following what it described as attempts by armed groups to destabilize Balochistan.

In a statement released on Friday, the military’s media wing, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said militants launched simultaneous attacks in several areas, including Quetta, Mastung, Nushki, Dalbandin, Kharan, Panjgur, Tump, Gwadar, and Pasni.

According to ISPR, security forces responded swiftly and effectively, carrying out what it termed “intense and daring clearance operations.” The military said the operations resulted in the deaths of 92 militants, including three suicide bombers. The statement added that 15 security personnel were also killed during the clashes.

The military said search and sanitization operations are ongoing in the affected areas. ISPR further stated that those responsible for planning and facilitating the attacks would be identified and brought to justice.

It is noteworthy that in previous instances, when Baloch armed groups have announced major operations or carried out heavy attacks on Pakistani forces, families of missing persons have accused security agencies of killing individuals who were allegedly in custody and later presenting them as militants. The families have consistently rejected the Pakistani military’s claims, saying their loved ones had been forcibly disappeared by state forces prior to such operations.

Several of these cases, according to the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), were officially registered with the organization after families reported their relatives as missing. VBMP has repeatedly raised these cases with Pakistani authorities, urging them either to release the missing persons or produce them before courts. Similar allegations have also been echoed by human rights organizations and political activists, who have questioned official accounts in past operations.
