Quetta: The protest camp organized by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan continued for the 6,055th consecutive day outside the Quetta Press Club.
During the protest, people from various walks of life visited the camp and expressed solidarity with the families of the missing persons.
On the occasion, the families of forcibly disappeared Muhammad Shifa and Alauddin participated in the protest, formally recording their demonstration and submitting details of the enforced disappearances of their loved ones to VBMP. They said the purpose of registering their protest was to draw the attention of senior authorities and urge them to play their role in providing justice under the country’s laws.
Muhammad Raqiq told the gathering that his brother Muhammad Shifa, son of Safar Khan, a police official, was detained along with his friend Ubaidullah by personnel of state institutions on November 22 last year from Shamsabad, Jangal Cross, Mastung, after which both were forcibly disappeared. He said Ubaidullah was released on December 31, 2025, but Muhammad Shifa remains missing.
He further complained that despite repeatedly approaching the relevant police station to register an FIR regarding his brother’s enforced disappearance, the station house officer (SHO) refused to register the case.
Meanwhile, Zohaib Ahmed said that his brother Alauddin, son of Abdul Jaleel, was detained by security forces on May 25, 2019, from Batto Bazaar, Nushki, and was subsequently forcibly disappeared. He said that despite repeated appeals to senior authorities for his brother’s recovery, no FIR has been registered, nor has the family been provided any information regarding his brother’s safety, leaving the family under severe mental distress.
Speaking on the occasion, VBMP Chairman Nasrullah Baloch assured the families of Muhammad Shifa and Alauddin that their cases would be forwarded at the organizational level to the Commission of Inquiry on Enforced Disappearances and the provincial government. He said VBMP would raise its voice for the safe recovery of both youths at every available forum.
Nasrullah Baloch demanded that senior authorities ensure the recovery of Muhammad Shifa and Alauddin and stated that if there are any allegations against them, they should be brought before the public and presented in court in accordance with the law.
