QUETTA: Dr. Shalee Baloch, organizer of the Baloch Women Forum, has expressed deep concern over the enforced disappearance of Baloch woman Fatima Baloch, calling it a disheartening development as an ongoing campaign against Baloch women.
In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Dr. Shalee said that Fatima Baloch, wife of Noroz Islam and resident of Panjgur, was forcibly disappeared from Akram Colony in Hub Chowki on January 13, 2026. She stated that for the indigenous Baloch people, “years come but fate remains the same: more human rights abuses,” adding that the increasing involvement of women in such cases has made the situation even more alarming.
Citing existing records, she said that twelve cases of enforced disappearances of Baloch women surfaced in 2025. According to her, one woman was brutally killed, five were released after suffering severe mental and physical trauma, while six are still missing and “waiting to be released from the state’s secret torture cells.” She described these incidents as a direct attack on social integrity, honor, and culture.
Condemning enforced disappearances as illegal acts, particularly when they involve women, Dr. Shalee said that the longstanding phenomenon of enforced disappearances in Baloch society has now become even more painful with women increasingly being targeted.
She demanded the immediate release of Fatima Baloch, along with six other forcibly disappeared Baloch women, saying that such detentions are illegal, unethical, and represent excessive use of state institutions backed by parliament and the judiciary.
