QUETTA: The Balochistan Liberation Front (BLF) has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks in various parts of Balochistan on January 6 and 7, saying that at least four security personnel were injured and a police checkpoint was briefly seized.
In a statement attributed to BLF spokesperson Major Gwahram Baloch, the group said its fighters attacked an event described as an “open court (jirga)” organized by Pakistani security forces at the Zubaida Jalal School in Mand on January 6. According to the claim, multiple grenades were fired, injuring two Customs officials, including one Frontier Corps (FC) personnel, and damaging several vehicles.
The gathering was said to have been attended by security officials and local political representatives. There was no independent confirmation of the casualties or damage reported by the group.
The BLF further claimed that its fighters set up a blockade and carried out snap checks on the China–Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) highway near Dasht between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. the same day. During this period, the group said it surrounded a nearby police checkpoint, briefly detained personnel on duty, and confiscated government-issued weapons before withdrawing.
In a separate incident, the group claimed a hand grenade attack on a Coast Guard checkpoint between Hub Chowki and Winder on January 6, reporting that one FC personnel was injured and the post was damaged.
The BLF also said it targeted and damaged surveillance cameras in Nasirabad on January 7.
