Quetta: The Baloch Students Organization Azad (BSO Azad) has successfully concluded its 24th Central Council Session, held over three days in December. The session ended with the election of a new central leadership, with Zarrain Baloch elected as Chairperson and Mehrdar Baloch as Secretary General.
The session was presided over by former Chairperson Drapshan Baloch and was held in memory of Martyr Kambar Chakar and in the name of unnamed individuals who, according to the organization, have consistently remained committed to the Baloch national liberation struggle.
According to a statement issued by BSO Azad spokesperson Sholaan Baloch, the three-day session covered a wide range of organizational and political agendas, including an address by the outgoing chairperson, constitutional amendments, presentation of the biennial General Secretary’s report, a criticism and accountability session, discussions on organizational affairs, analysis of national and international political situations, formulation of upcoming policies, and the election of the new leadership.
On the first day, former Chairperson Drapshan Baloch addressed the council members, followed by the introduction of constitutional amendments. The day concluded with the presentation of the organization’s two-year performance report by the General Secretary.
The second day focused on criticism and accountability, during which members emphasized the importance of constructive criticism within a revolutionary organization. Participants stressed that criticism helps identify weaknesses, maintain ideological discipline, and safeguard the interests of the national movement. Discussions were also held on the current needs of the Baloch liberation movement, and new organizational strategies and policies were proposed.
On the third day, the council discussed national and international political developments, upcoming organizational strategies, and election procedures. Two-year policies and programs were formally adopted, after which the previous central body was dissolved and the election process began.
The Election Commission, headed by Drapshan Baloch along with two members, supervised the elections. Following the nomination and voting process, the newly elected leadership was announced before the council. In addition to Chairperson Zarrain Baloch and Secretary General Mehrdar Baloch, Sholaan Baloch was elected as spokesperson of the organization.
An oath-taking ceremony for the new leadership was conducted by the former chairperson, followed by speeches from both outgoing and incoming leaders.
In his farewell address, Drapshan Baloch congratulated the newly elected leadership and urged them to work with greater dedication, discipline, and commitment to the cause. Reflecting on his journey within the organization, he described BSO as his political and personal foundation and highlighted its historical role in sustaining the political process of the Baloch national movement despite state repression and internal challenges. He emphasized the sacrifices of martyrs and unnamed contributors to the struggle, calling on cadres to remain ideologically steadfast, disciplined, and committed to collective responsibility.
Newly elected Chairperson Zarrain Baloch, in his address, congratulated the newly formed central committee and stressed that leadership positions should be viewed as national responsibilities rather than mere titles. He said the organization must be strengthened ideologically and structurally over the next two years through discipline, hard work, and scientific foundations.
He noted that despite facing hardships and internal and external challenges, BSO Azad has remained committed to its revolutionary ideology. He emphasized that institutions and collective struggle must take precedence over individual ambitions and called on Baloch youth and the wider public to adopt the organization’s ideology as a national duty.
Zarrain Baloch further stated that the current phase of the Baloch national struggle demands greater responsibility from youth and people across all sectors. He called for long-term planning, ideological clarity, and skill development to contribute effectively to the national struggle. Paying tribute to martyrs, he urged youth to carry forward their philosophy through sustained commitment and collective action.
After the completion of all agendas, Secretary General Mehrdar Baloch, with the permission of the chairperson, formally concluded the 24th Central Council Session in memory of Martyr Kambar Chakar and in recognition of those who continue to struggle for Baloch national liberation.
