Wave of Enforced Disappearances Continues in Balochistan as Over 20 People Disappeared After Forces Raids

QUETTA: Reports of new enforced disappearances have emerged from Dera Bugti, Panjgur, Gwadar, Surab and Karachi, where more than 20 individuals were taken into custody by Pakistani forces during a series of raids over recent days and subsequently disappeared.

In Dera Bugti, security Forces detained over 15 people during multiple raids, nine of whom have been identified. Among the disappeared are three members of the same family Qasir Rehan Bugti, Jeha Khan Meharullah Bugti and Khan Meharullah Bugti. Others include Shabir Sohbat Bugti, Mangal Ghulam Bakhsh Bugti, Hasan Ali Sher Bugti, Rasheed Jan Muhammad Bugti, Nowroz Nihal Bugti and Islam Ramzan Bugti. Families say that no state institution has acknowledged the arrests or provided any information on their whereabouts.

In Panjgur, three individuals Nazir Baloch, Bibgar Baloch and Attaullah Baloch were disappeared while traveling with their families. Eyewitnesses report that Nazir Baloch’s son, Shehzad Baloch, and Attaullah’s brother, Jangiyan Baloch, were also taken from the road.

Furthermore from Gwadar Sanaullah Baloch, son of Deen Muhammad and a resident of Tump, was detained at the Talar checkpoint around 6 PM and moved to an undisclosed location, where he has since disappeared.

In Surab, armed men in civilian clothing reportedly broke into the home of Muhammad Aslam on Grade Station Link Road at around 1 AM, detaining his son Muhammad Shoaib, who then disappeared. The family has demanded that Shoaib be produced before a court.

Similarly, in Karachi’s Mauripur area, two individuals Peer Jan, son of Jamal and Abid, son of Karim Bakhsh were taken on the night of 13 November by personnel believed to be from Military Intelligence and ISI. Their families insist that if any charges exist, the men should be presented before a court, emphasizing that enforced disappearances are unconstitutional and illegal.

Affected families from all regions have demanded the immediate recovery of the disappeared individuals and called for due legal process to be upheld.
