
Islamabad: A suspected suicide bomber detonated himself outside the District Court in Pakistan’s capital on Tuesday morning, killing at least 12 people and injuring several others, according to police and hospital officials.
Police said the attacker attempted to enter the court premises but was intercepted by security personnel. Moments later, he detonated his explosives near a police vehicle, causing a powerful blast that ripped through the area.
Emergency teams and law enforcement agencies immediately cordoned off the site. The injured were rushed to PIMS Hospital, where several victims are said to be in critical condition.
Authorities have declared an emergency in hospitals across Islamabad, while investigations are underway to determine the identity of the bomber and any possible accomplices.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
