Quetta: The Baloch National Movement (BNM)’s Martyrs Memorial Council (Shahmeerani Taak) has introduced a new emblem dedicated to the memory of Baloch martyrs. Shahmeerani Taak, which operates under BNM’s Information, IT, and Cultural Department, is primarily responsible for collecting and documenting information about Baloch martyrs and sharing it with the public through the organization’s website and social media platforms.

On the occasion of the symbol’s launch, BNM’s Information Secretary published a detailed note explaining the historical, philosophical, cultural, and artistic significance of the emblem. The design consists of two concentric layers, each carrying deep symbolic meaning.

According to the organization’s description, the inner layer represents a 17-petaled open flower, symbolizing life, spirit, and renewal. It comprises three elements:

  • A deep crimson central dot, representing national unity.
  • A surrounding circle, denoting the importance of unity for the nation’s survival.
  • Flower petals, signifying the greatness of the martyrs’ role and the nation’s reverence for their sacrifice.

The 17 petals are said to represent spiritual balance, faith, and renewal. The central portion is colored in a deep red hue, symbolizing the martyrs’ blood and sacrifices.

The outer layer symbolizes a radiant sun with 28 rays, representing life, continuity, and the light of sacrifice. The number 28 corresponds to the lunar cycle and the continuity of time. It is divided into four equal parts, each containing seven rays representing justice, equality, and the martyrs’ impartial sacrifices. The circular shape of the symbol denotes the eternal struggle for truth, a journey without end, passed from one generation to the next.

In terms of color scheme, the outer layer (the sun’s rays) features a golden yellow tone, while the inner flower is depicted in a deep crimson red.

In a statement to the media, Qazi Rehan said that the emblem represents a long-held vision to honor Baloch martyrs through a symbol rooted in historical, cultural and geographic identity. He added that due to the neglect of Baloch historical heritage, there has been a disconnection between the people and their history. The creation of this symbol aims to fill that psychological void and promote cultural resistance so that the new generation can reconnect with its history, symbols, and heritage.
