BUSAN: The Baloch National Movement (BNM) staged a protest in the South Korean city of Busan, at Napo-dong, as part of its ongoing global campaign to condemn the military siege and operations carried out by the Pakistan Army in Zehri, a town in Balochistan.
Previously, BNM has held similar protests in the United Kingdom, Germany, and the Netherlands to raise international awareness about the situation in Zehri.
During the demonstration today, protesters distributed pamphlets in English and the Korean languages to local residents, informing them about the worsening humanitarian situation in Balochistan.
Protesters accused the Pakistani military, referred to as the Punjabi army, of committing war crimes against the Baloch nation and urged the international community to ensure accountability and responsible conduct by the Pakistani state.
Participants carried banners demanding an end to the Zehri siege, justice for Balochistan, and an immediate halt to what they called “Baloch genocide.” They also displayed photos of destroyed houses and grieving families from Zehri to raise awareness among locals.
According to the demonstrators, recent aerial bombardments by the Pakistani army in Zehri have killed more than 20 civilians, including 10 children, while over 50 young men have been forcibly disappeared.
The protesters detailed the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Zehri, citing severe shortages of food, water, and medicine. They said hospitals have been turned into military bases, and a 24-hour curfew has been imposed, restricting civilian movement.
Speakers at the event stated that “Zehri is drenched in blood” and urged the world not to remain silent. They called upon Amnesty International and other human rights organizations to intervene immediately and ensure humanitarian access to the affected areas.
According to the Baloch National Movement, the Busan protest is part of a series of demonstrations being held worldwide to draw global attention to the ongoing human rights violations and humanitarian crisis in Zehri, Balochistan.
