Washuk: Body of Forcibly Disappeared Man Found

Washuk, Balochistan: The bullet-riddled body of a man who had been forcibly disappeared around 25 days ago was recovered from Washuk district of Balochistan.

The deceased has been identified as 38-year-old Muhammad Azam, son of Abdul Rehman, a resident of Pattak Qadirabad in Basima Tehsil. Azam, who was known locally as a shopkeeper and trader, was detained by Pakistani security forces from his shop on September 11, 2025, and taken to an undisclosed location.

Eyewitnesses said that Muhammad Azam was taken away in a vehicle belonging to Pakistani forces, after which his whereabouts remained unknown. However, on October 6, 2025, nearly twenty-five days later, his body bearing multiple bullet wounds was found in the Gowargi Nag area of Washuk district.

Local residents have termed the incident part of the ongoing series of enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan.

For the past two decades, enforced disappearances have become a serious human rights crisis in the province. According to local and international reports, hundreds of families are still waiting for the return of their missing loved ones, with numerous cases reported of abducted persons later found dead in various districts of Balochistan.
