The human rights wing of Baloch National Movement (BNM), Paank, strongly condemned the public display of Baloch scholar Dr. Usman Qazi’s “forced confession.”
In a statement, Paank said that the public release of Dr. Usman Qazi’s so-called confession is deeply regrettable and unacceptable. The statement added that this confession was shown at a time when Dr. Usman was denied access to a lawyer and the basic right to a fair trial. Forced confessions and state-run malicious media campaigns not only go against the requirements of justice but are also a clear violation of international human rights principles and the prohibition of torture.
Paank appealed to the public and media to regard Dr. Usman Qazi as innocent under the law, as the allegations against him have no legal standing.
