The protest camp of Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP) against enforced disappearances in Balochistan has completed 5,914 days in front of Quetta Press Club.
Former BSO chairman Maheem Khan Baloch and people from different walks of life visited the protest camp and expressed solidarity.
The mother of missing person Mehmood Ali Langove also joined the protest today. She said, “I have submitted my son’s case to the government, judiciary and the commission on missing persons. For one year I have been holding peaceful protests for his safe recovery, but neither has my son been released nor have I received any information about him. Because of this, I am under great stress.”
VBMP chairman Nasrullah Baloch said that the families of missing persons are knocking on the doors of state institutions and also continuing peaceful protests for justice and recovery of their loved ones. He added, “Our demand is that the authorities treat us according to the country’s laws. If the missing persons are involved in any unlawful activity, they should be presented in court instead of being kept disappeared, so that their families are freed from this pain.”
He expressed regret that no practical steps have been taken to meet this constitutional demand. As a result, families of missing persons are suffering severe mental pressure and many have become psychological patients.
Nasrullah Baloch further said that it is the constitutional and moral responsibility of the government and judicial institutions to provide justice to the families under the law. He demanded from the government and heads of national institutions to ensure the recovery of Mehmood Ali Langove and all other missing persons, so that their families are saved from lifelong suffering.
