Islamabad: The protest of Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC) leaders and families of enforced disappearance victims has entered its 34th day today.
Despite the extreme heat and possible state pressure, the demonstrators remain firm on their demands. They say the detained BYC leaders should be released immediately and the decades-long practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan must be ended.
The families demand the recovery of their missing loved ones and the release of BYC leaders.
Meanwhile, the family of Zahid Ali has set up a protest camp outside Karachi Press Club, which has now entered its 14th day. Zahid Ali, a 25-year-old student of International Relations at the University of Karachi, was forcibly disappeared by Pakistani forces on July 17, 2025. His rickshaw, which he drove part-time to support his family, was also seized.
Zahid’s father, Abdul Hameed, who is suffering from hepatitis, is present at the camp despite his poor health. He is demanding the safe return of his son.
The family has appealed to students, journalists, human rights activists and the general public to visit the camp, show solidarity with the protesters, and raise their voices for Zahid Ali’s safe recovery.
