In the past few hours, several armed attacks and explosions have taken place at different locations in Balochistan, reportedly causing loss of life and property to the Pakistani security forces.
In Gwadar last night, unidentified attackers targeted a military vehicle with a remote-controlled bomb. Six personnel were reported killed or injured and the vehicle was completely destroyed.
In Zamuran, Delkik, armed men launched a heavy assault on a military checkpoint using heavy weapons. Explosions and gunfire continued for a long time and there are reports of casualties.
In Jhao, Nowndadh, gunmen set up a blockade and took control of a Levies check post, seizing government weapons and equipment. In Jhao, Serdh area, after a four-hour blockade, the Majid Peer Levies check post was set on fire.
In Mand, Mehiyar and Soru, a large number of armed men surrounded a military camp and carried out an intense attack.
In Ziarat yesterday morning, unidentified men kidnapped Assistant Commissioner Afzal Baqi and his son. The attackers released the AC’s gunman and driver but took the officer and his son with them.
In Mastung, an explosion on the railway track caused six carriages of the Jaffar Express to derail.
In Nasirabad, armed men blocked the highway and attacked a nearby forces’ camp from two sides, with heavy firing and explosions heard during the assault.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attacks, but there are reports of further incidents.
