Kech: The family of Dr. Dad Shah, a medical technician at Josak BHU Hospital, has announced plans to stage a sit-in on the M-8 CPEC highway on August 12 to demand his recovery.
According to his relatives, Dr. Dad Shah, son of Waheed Bakhsh and a resident of Tajaban Sangabad near Hoshab, was allegedly taken into custody by Pakistani intelligence personnel on August 4. They said he had been serving at Josak BHU since 2017 and was a member of the Pakistan Paramedical Association Registered Kech. On the afternoon of August 4, at around 2:15 p.m., he was returning home with a colleague after duty when security personnel detained him at Kech Kor Pol.
The family stated that more than a week has passed without him being presented in court or any official notification of his detention being given to them or the health department. They expressed concern for his safety, adding that if there are any charges against him, he should be produced before a court in accordance with the law. They stressed that enforced disappearance itself is a violation of the law.
The family warned that if Dr. Dad Shah is not released by August 11, they will block the M-8 highway at Tajaban on August 12. They appealed to political and social organizations, lawyers, students and the public to support them in this human rights matter.
They also informed transporters and traders traveling between Turbat and Quetta to use alternative routes on August 12, as the M-8 highway would remain closed in protest.
