Quetta: Dr. Mahrang Baloch and Other BYC Leaders Presented in Court, 15-Day Remand Approved

Quetta: Dr. Mahrang Baloch, head of the Baloch Yekjehti Committee (BYC), along with six other leaders of the organization, was presented before an Anti-Terrorism Court in Quetta today. The hearing was conducted by Judge Muhammad Ali Mubeen.

Police requested the court for further custody of the accused for ongoing investigation. Approving the plea, the judge granted a 15-day remand of Dr. Mah Rang Baloch and the other detainees to police custody.

A short video clip from the court premises surfaced, showing Dr. Mah Rang Baloch speaking briefly. In the clip, she stated, “We already know the decision has been made; you are just here to announce it.”

She further alleged that despite a prior 10-day remand order, the detainees were denied their legal rights. “We were not allowed to meet our families, nor were we permitted to sign power of attorney documents,” she claimed.

Dr. Mahrang also criticized prison authorities, saying: “There are FIRs registered against us across Balochistan, and signing legal documents is essential for our defense. But the prison superintendent accused the judge of ordering that no such signatures be permitted.”

The incident has drawn renewed attention to the treatment of political activists in Balochistan, with rights groups and legal observers closely monitoring developments.
