The bullet-riddled body of Zeeshan Zaheer, a young activist campaigning for the recovery of missing persons, was discovered in the Sordo area of Panjgoor, Balochistan.
According to police, Zeeshan’s body bore multiple gunshot wounds. Zeeshan, a 21-year-old student and resident of Khuda Abad, Panjgoor, had been enforcedly disappeared on the night of June 29, 2025, around 8 PM, reportedly by members of a state-backed death squad from the Football Chowk area.
Zeeshan’s father, Zaheer Baloch, has been missing since April 13, 2015, and his whereabouts remain unknown. Following Zeeshan’s disappearance, his family and local residents staged a sit-in protest on the CPEC Road in Panjgoor, demanding his immediate release. However, around 9 AM the following morning, the family was informed of his murder.
His body was recovered near Gharib Nawaz Hotel in Sordo. The post-mortem report confirmed multiple bullet injuries and signs of torture.
The incident adds to the growing concerns of human rights organizations regarding enforced disappearances and extrajudicial killings in Balochistan. Despite these grave concerns, there has been no sign of transparent investigations or meaningful action from the authorities to address the ongoing crisis.
