Sadia Baloch, the sister of forcibly disappeared Salman Baloch, has strongly condemned the dismissal of her brother’s case, saying that Justice Amanullah Yasinzai’s decision reflects “a disturbing indifference” and is a clear violation of Articles 9 and 10-A of the Constitution. She accused the judiciary of no longer being defenders of justice but protectors of state repression.
“For us, the disappeared are not just case files, they are part of our breath and existence,” said Saadia. “We endure the agony of their absence every single day.”
She added that Salman Baloch was forcibly disappeared on 13 November 2022 from Quetta, and there has been no trace of him since.
Questioning the role of the state institutions and judiciary, she asked:
“If the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Constitution are denied, where should citizens turn to?”
In her concluding remarks, Sadia Baloch appealed to human rights organizations and civil society to support the families of the disappeared and become their voice in this ongoing struggle.
