Mastung/Quetta – The Baloch Liberation Army (BLA) has claimed responsibility for a series of coordinated attacks targeting Pakistani occupying forces and Levies check posts in Mastung, as well as an armed assault on a state-backed operative in Quetta.
In a statement released by BLA spokesperson Jeeyand Baloch, the group said its fighters gained control over multiple Levies stations and checkpoints in Mastung, in addition to launching an attack on Pakistani military forces in the region. The spokesperson added that BLA fighters also targeted a key proxy of the Pakistani military in Quetta.
According to the statement, on the evening of May 26, BLA fighters seized control of the Wali Khan police station in Mastung. In a simultaneous operation, another group of fighters took over a Levies checkpoint along the Quetta-Karachi highway, enforcing a blockade that lasted for nearly an hour.
During the operation, BLA fighters reportedly set fire to the police station and vehicles belonging to the forces, destroying them completely. They also confiscated six weapons from the stationed personnel. Six detained Levies personnel were later released on humanitarian grounds, as they were identified to be of Baloch origin.
The spokesperson further stated that on the night of May 25, BLA fighters attacked a Pakistani military post in the Khaddkocha area of Mastung. The assault lasted over 20 minutes and involved the use of automatic and heavy weaponry. As a result, two military personnel were killed on the spot and the army reportedly suffered additional human and material losses.
Additionally, the BLA claimed responsibility for a targeted attack on May 27 in Quetta’s GDA Ground area, in which state-backed agent Muhammad Nabi Khalji was seriously wounded. Khalji, identified as the head of the so-called “Tehreek-e-Jawanan-e-Pakistan – Markhor Wing Quetta,” was allegedly involved in organizing pro-military rallies and celebrations under the patronage of the Pakistani forces. He is also accused of coercing and bribing civilians to recruit them into military service.
Concluding the statement, Jeeyand Baloch issued a stern warning:
“All such collaborators organizing fake celebrations and rallies under military direction are legitimate targets of our fighters. We urge the public to maintain a safe distance from such individuals to avoid any unintended harm.”
