Awaran: Baloch Women Forum Calls for Strike on May 28 Against Extrajudicial Killings, Including Woman

The Baloch Women Forum (BWF) has announced a complete strike across Awaran on May 28, condemning the extrajudicial killing of two civilians including a woman — in a violent raid carried out by state security forces in the Malaar Machi area.

In an official statement, the central spokesperson of the BWF strongly condemned the “heart-wrenching” incident that occurred during the night of May 26-27, where, according to reports, law enforcement personnel opened indiscriminate fire during an illegal raid, killing Naeem Baloch and Hoori Baloch, and severely injuring Dadi Baloch, the elderly mother of Naeem.

The spokesperson stated that following the tragic event, local residents and family members carried the bodies to Awaran city in protest, demanding justice.

“This is the fifth extrajudicial killing in Awaran within a single week,” the statement said, calling it “a terrifying indication of the growing lawlessness and militarization in Balochistan.” The forum further accused state institutions of being granted a free hand in what it termed a systematic campaign of Baloch genocide.

“This week alone, villages in Kalat were destroyed, people were displaced, and now targeted killings and enforced disappearances have become routine acts, falsely framed as encounters,” the spokesperson added. “As a political voice of the Baloch, we completely oppose these violent practices.”

The BWF called for justice for the slain Naeem and Hoori Baloch, and for immediate medical attention for Dadi Baloch, while demanding an end to the reckless use of force by security agencies in civilian areas.

They appealed to national and international human rights organizations to urgently intervene and hold Pakistani state forces accountable for their actions against innocent civilians.

In closing, the BWF urged the people of Awaran to observe a complete shutdown on May 28, in solidarity with the victims of these ongoing human rights violations. “In these dark times, stand with the affected families and raise your voice against injustice,” the spokesperson concluded.
