KARACHI – Veteran Baloch human rights activist and Vice Chairman of the Voice for Baloch Missing Persons (VBMP), Mama Qadeer Baloch, has been admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Dr. Ziauddin Hospital in Karachi due to a serious deterioration in his health.
According to medical sources, Mama Qadeer’s condition is critical, and he is currently on oxygen support under close medical supervision. He was initially hospitalized on May 16, 2025, following a sudden decline in his health. A video shared by VBMP on its official Facebook page at the time showed him lying in a hospital bed wearing an oxygen mask.
Mama Qadeer has long been at the forefront of the peaceful struggle for the recovery of Baloch missing persons. For over a decade, he has led a daily hunger strike camp outside the Quetta Press Club, where he continues to protest from 10 AM to 6 PM without food. Years of physical hardship, aging, and emotional trauma have severely impacted his health.
He is also the grieving father of Jaleel Reki Baloch, who was forcibly disappeared and later killed in custody. Despite his personal loss, Mama Qadeer has remained a steadfast voice against enforced disappearances, symbolizing resistance and dignity in the Baloch national movement.
His deteriorating health has sparked deep concern among human rights circles, activists, Baloch nationalists, and sympathizers globally. Appeals have been made to pray for his speedy recovery and to raise awareness about his invaluable contribution to the cause of justice and human rights.
